Finrael's Raiding Madness

Raiding the Deadmines so you don't have to!

Naxx

Our guild raided Naxx for the first time last night and took down three bosses. Kudos to all those in the raid and I am so proud of you guys. Exo and I are almost leveled to 80 so there will be another tank and another healer. I wish the leveling would be a little..er a lot faster but real life has a way of biting you in the ass when you least expect it and 80 seems forever away.

The one thing I do appreciate is the jewel crafting recipes seem to just drop off of everything as apposed to the world drops in BC that were really silly to get. On the other hand the economy is horrid and things are over priced. In the leveling of my Death Knight I picked up herbalism and mining. I made scads of money from leveling both of those. Silliness, and I could probably go back and just farm out those old mines and herbs and still make tons of money off of 'em.

Let's talk about item drops. As a priest I get a ton of drops that are Stamina and Int and those are fine...but I really would rather have Spirit and Int. I've come across a ton of the other so replacing my Kara gear has been rather slow.

Fun Daily Action

Dunno what everyone else thinks but it's kinda nice to have a daily that nets you something other than rep and gold. I have cooking, fishing, Jewelcrafting, and Herbalism. The cooking daily (since I don't do them every day) has been repetitively the same one. The Jewelcrafting has been alternating between two different quests so I can see how that would get old after awhile.

As far as the instances go, they have been okay. Nothing really stands out in my mind like the old school instances.

I've been running my Death Knight more often than my Priest. The death knight is pretty indestructible. With her I've chosen mining and herbalism. The herbalism always speeds by fast, but mining has been kinda pissing me off. The only time to mine has been early in the morning otherwise you are competing with at least 4 other people for mines. The bonus though is that mining is a money maker.

With my priest I've hit level 75, and it's been slow. Real life has a way of jumping up and biting you in the ass.

The day before Lich King
creep

Server downtime, database issues, and funky lag mark the beginning of the arrival of the Lich King. Midnight tonight the expansion for World of Warcraft will be in stores ready for purchase. Oh boy! I'm sure there will be people standing in lines waiting to get their grubby little mitts on it.
When Burning Crusade came out I pre-ordered through Amazon months in advance. When release day came and the game still hadn't shipped I was upset. Amazon sent me a letter to the effect that they hadn't anticipated the amount of copies ordered and that they were sorry for the delay. Let's just say I was a little disappointed. I walked into Walmart and saw about a billion copies in a nice little display. I picked up my three copies went home and canceled my order through Amazon. As for those people who were in stores at midnight....hah hah. Servers were cranked, the game was unplayable for the first couple days.

My poor guildies. Most of us are married, have kids, and are busy with the day to day life. We log on and hope to get our couple hours of playtime. We have been loggin on and the question is: "What are we gonna do tonight?" We have been raiding Kara twice and that is really really getting old. Zul'Aman would be interesting to complete but is it really worth it for gear that is not that great? Better to run Kara..get badges and DE a bunch of crap. So thank god this will be the last night of raiding Kara, visiting that last heroic, or finishing that last daily before new content comes out.

So, the question is are you going to level all your 70's to 80 or will you roll your gnome deathknight and join the masses killing realm servers and instance servers?

Oh and the insanity, Exo passed this on to me: Craziness!

Running the Daily Grind
[info]finrael
I've come to the assumption that there are two kinds of people on the Isle of Quel'Danas. First there are the hard core grinders they snipe anything and everything they can and are generally rude. Then there are the people who are just there to make a little gold and couldn't give a crap. I've encountered some of the worst and strangest behavior ever while doing the daily grind on the isle.

I'm a gamer of the second type. I don't have the time or the inclination to get all upset and bothered by the type one guys. There are times though that I wish I could hit them with the big red hammer of doom.

An example of strange behavior is that I was followed by a horde hunter (I'm on my alliance toon). That's it. He wasn't doing anything...just following me around. It was strange. I have no idea why he was doing it.

The typical horrible behavior is always easy to spot. Such as: pulling a critter right as you charge it, steal killing, sitting on npc's while flagged, fighting over mining nodes, etc. Everyone knows THAT guy.

What is it about the Isle that brings out the worst in players?

New Patch = New Annoyances
[info]finrael
Blizzard released their new patch 3.0.2 to World of Warcraft on Tuesday. The new patch has lead to some standard server shutdowns, restarts, and general flakiness. Last night Karazhan was down so our guild raided Zul'Aman.

We had torn through Kara with a ferocity of a 60 going through Deadmines. The new patch nerfed most instances. It was so sad that we dropped the Curator in about 2 minutes of combat. In Zul'Aman we had a few stumbles, but that was due to childish curiosity and running headlong through the instance. The big surprise was that the ugly Pally hat didn't drop off of the Bear Boss.

I am beginning to not like my new healing spec. It makes me feel like I have ADD. I went completely Holy instead of being hybrid Holy/Discipline. I miss the spirit buff, but I think I do well without it. The general move to aoe healing is rather blah, "oh boy I can spam!" I draw too much aggro with CoH by the way.

Haven't tried out my Arms spec with my warrior. If we run Kara instead tonight maybe I can talk someone else into healing so I can try out the new Arms stuff. >:)
